Self Portrait Project
Artist statement:
My self portrait is a reflection of who I am as a person, combined with who I am on the inside, how I express myself, and how I want people to see me. The actual picture of myself is blurred out, because how I appear doesn’t really matter in my life. Well, it matters enough to include it, but it’s not all that important. I’m holding the image of a phoenix, because on the inside I’m graceful, yet deadly, and my element is fire. Behind me is a dragon, made up of colours such as blues and purples. The dragon represents my spirit animal, which also happens to be my Chinese zodiac. Dragons are also deadly and also breathe fire, but they are also very protective and prefer solitude, much like myself. In the background there are music notes, because wherever you find me I’ll probably be listening to music. Music is super important, I can play a bit of the violin and the piano, and I was also in choir for two years. The background is empty but colourful space, which is saying that the inside of my head and my thoughts are pretty much infinite, and most of the time not even I can make sense of anything inside my mind.
